Raw land, overgrown lot, future build site, view corridor. Timber clears it and preps it for what is next. The only local company that clears the lot and builds on it. Call or text Dylan and Taylor at (360) 441-5033 for a free estimate.
From Brush to Buildable
You bought the lot in Ferndale and the trees and brush are taller than your truck. You finally pulled the trigger on the build in Lynden and the alders are right where the foundation goes. The view corridor in Birch Bay is gone behind years of growth. The pasture in Sedro-Woolley needs to come back. Whatever the project, the first step is the same: clear it down to something you can work with.
Timber clears lots and land across Whatcom and Skagit County. Selective tree removal, brush, stumps, vegetation, debris, and haul. We size the job to the land. Quarter-acre infill lots in Bellingham all the way up to multi-acre rural builds in the foothills. When we walk off, you have a clean, level, ready surface for the next step. And because Timber is a licensed general contractor, that next step can be us too.

What Clearing Looks Like
Every clearing starts with a walk. We map out what stays and what goes. Healthy trees you want to keep get flagged. Hazard trees and trees in the build footprint get marked for removal. Blackberry, scotch broom, salmonberry, and other PNW invasives we plan to clear out by the root.
From there we work in layers. Selective tree removal first, using climbers, the bucket truck, or the crane as the lot needs. Then brush and underbrush with the right equipment for the terrain: skid steer with a mulcher head, forestry mower, mini excavator with a thumb. Stumps come out by grinding or full excavation depending on what you are building. Debris gets chipped on site for mulch or hauled away.
If grading is part of the job, we rough-grade after the clear so the lot sits where the engineer wants it. If a survey or geotechnical report comes back asking for more, we adjust. The deliverable is a lot that is genuinely ready for the next trade, not a half-cleared mess your foundation crew has to fix.
Every other land clearing company in Whatcom or Skagit County drops you on the curb when the lot is bare. You then go hire a separate excavator, a separate foundation crew, a separate framer. Three more contracts. Three more schedules. Three more bills.
Timber is a licensed general contractor in Washington State. We can clear the lot, pour the foundation, frame the house or shop, and finish the build. Same owners, Dylan and Taylor, same crew, one phone number for the whole project. That is the brand: tree service and construction, one call, one crew, one company.
Permits and the Local Rules
Land clearing in Washington is not the wild west, especially close to water, wetlands, salmon-bearing streams, and protected critical areas. Whatcom County, Bellingham, and Skagit County each have their own clearing thresholds, riparian buffers, and grading permit triggers. Some areas need a wetland delineation. Some need a certified arborist report. Some only need a simple grading permit. A few small jobs do not need anything.
Timber clears jobs in this region every week and we know which permits each one needs. We will walk the land with you, tell you straight what the county and the state will require, and either pull the permits ourselves or coordinate with your engineer, your wetland consultant, or your certified arborist. We do not over-clear, we do not push into setbacks, and we do not turn a quick job into a stop-work order.
Call (360) 441-5033 if you are not sure where your land sits. We will help you find out.
"We bought 2 acres outside Lynden to build on. Couldn't even see the property line through the brush. Timber came in, cleared the build envelope, took out 12 trees, ground the stumps, and rough-graded the site. Then they did the foundation work too. Honest crew, fair price, and they showed up when they said they would. That is rare around here."
What Is Included
Every clearing quote from Timber lists the scope by element so there are no surprises. Most jobs include selective tree removal, brush and undergrowth removal, stump handling, debris disposal, and a final walk-through. Add-on items are listed separately, like rough grading, hauling for off-site disposal, erosion control, retaining the wood for firewood, mulching for trail or garden use, or following on to foundation work.
Right Tool for the Lot
We bring different gear for a quarter-acre infill clearing in Bellingham than for a five-acre rural build outside Acme. Climbers and rigging for tight tree work. A bucket truck for clean reach. Compact skid steers with mulcher and forestry attachments. Tracked excavators with thumbs for stumps and grading. Chipper trucks. Dump trucks for haul. The right size matters: oversized equipment chews up a yard you wanted to keep, and undersized equipment turns a one-day job into a week.
Timber owns the core fleet and maintains it locally so we are not waiting on a rental yard to start your job.
Free Estimates
Clearing estimates are always free. The fastest way is to call or text Dylan or Taylor directly at (360) 441-5033. Send a parcel number, a rough acreage, and a few photos if you can. For anything beyond a small infill lot we come out, walk the land with you, and write up the scope on site. You will get a clear number, a clear list of what is included, and a clear schedule before any equipment shows up.
Tell us about your lot. We respond the same business day.
Common Questions
It depends on tree density, terrain, access, stumps, what you want done with the debris, and what comes next. A lightly wooded acre with good access is one number. A heavily wooded acre with steep ground, dense brush, and a long haul to the road is another. Most rural builds in the county fall in a broad range per acre. Estimates are free. Call (360) 441-5033 and we will walk it with you.
Sometimes yes. Whatcom County, the City of Bellingham, and Skagit County each have clearing and grading thresholds. Critical areas, wetlands, salmon-bearing streams, and steep slopes trigger more rules. Some small jobs need nothing. We will tell you exactly what your parcel needs and either pull the permit or coordinate with your consultant.
A small infill lot can be done in a day. A heavily wooded acre can take several days. Larger or multi-phase projects run a week to a few weeks. Permit timelines can add to that on the front end. You will get a clear schedule in your quote.
A clean, level, ready surface that is genuinely build-ready. Trees gone, stumps gone, brush gone, debris gone or mulched on site, and rough grading if it is in the scope. The trees you marked to keep are protected and untouched.
Yes. That is the whole reason Timber exists. As a licensed general contractor in Washington State, we can roll directly from clearing into foundation, framing, and finish. Same crew, same project manager, same phone number. Most homeowners save weeks and a lot of hand-offs by keeping us on the job.
Yes, regularly. For sensitive sites or for retention plans we coordinate with certified arborists, wetland consultants, surveyors, and structural or civil engineers. If you do not have a consultant yet, we can recommend ones we trust locally.
Absolutely. A lot of customers want firewood logs cut and stacked, want chips dropped on site for trails or beds, or want certain trees milled. Tell us what you want kept and where. The rest we haul.
