When Something Has to Come Down
The old farmhouse on the back of the property is past saving. The detached garage is leaning. The shed in the corner of the yard has not been opened in ten years. A storm flattened the outbuilding behind the barn. Whatever the structure is, somebody has to deal with it before you can move on.
Timber handles demolition across Whatcom and Skagit County. Houses, garages, sheds, decks, outbuildings, partial demolition for remodels, and storm-damaged structures. We tear it down, haul off the debris, and prep the site so it is ready for whatever is next: a rebuild, a clean lot, or just back to grass.
Dylan and Taylor Lindsey run the company. We are a licensed general contractor in Washington State and fully insured. Call (360) 441-5033 to talk through what needs to come down.
What We Demolish
Timber takes on demolition projects of every size across Whatcom and Skagit County.
Residential demolition. Full teardown of older homes, mobile homes, or unsafe structures. Common on rural Whatcom and Skagit County lots where the existing home is past saving and the owner is building new.
Partial demolition for remodels. Removing a wall, taking down an addition, opening up a kitchen, gutting a room down to studs. Carefully done so the rest of the home stays intact and the remodel can start clean.
Garage, shed, and outbuilding teardown. Detached garages, old sheds, chicken coops, barns, and pole buildings. Most of these come down in a day or two and the site is graded and ready the same week.
Storm-damaged structures. When a storm or a fallen tree takes out a building beyond repair, we remove the damaged structure, haul the debris, and document everything for your insurance claim. We also handle the tree side, which is the part most local companies cannot do.
Paired with land clearing. Many demo jobs need tree removal and lot clearing at the same time. Because Timber runs a tree service crew alongside the construction crew, both happen with one phone call.

Our Process
1. Assess. Dylan or Taylor walks the property, evaluates the structure, and flags anything that needs special handling: utilities, hazardous materials, neighboring structures, or trees in the way.
2. Utilities disconnected. Power, gas, water, and sewer all get shut off and capped by the right authority before any wall comes down. We coordinate with PSE, your local water district, and any other utility involved.
3. Permits. Whatcom County, Skagit County, and the cities of Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Mount Vernon, and Anacortes all require demolition permits. We pull every permit before the first wall comes down.
4. Demolition. Done safely with the right equipment for the job. Excavator, skid steer, hand tools, whatever the structure calls for. Dust and debris are controlled. Neighboring property is protected.
5. Haul-off. All debris is loaded out and hauled to the proper disposal site. Wood, metal, concrete, drywall, and roofing all go where they are supposed to go. Recyclable materials are separated when practical.
6. Site prep. Foundation broken up and removed if needed, basement filled, lot graded, and area cleaned. You are left with a site that is ready for whatever comes next.
7. Ready to rebuild. If you are rebuilding, our construction crew can start the next day. No new contractor handoff. No second contract.

Most demolition companies in Whatcom County do exactly one thing: tear stuff down and haul it out. If you want to rebuild, you start over with a new contractor. New bids, new contract, new schedule, new crew.
Timber is built differently. We are a licensed general contractor with our own construction crew and our own tree service crew. We can demo the old structure, clear any trees in the way, grade the lot, pour the foundation, and frame the new building, all under one contract. No handoff. No second mobilization. No "the next contractor will figure it out."
This is the differentiator most clients only appreciate after they have hired three separate companies and watched each one blame the others. Call (360) 441-5033 and we will lay out what a one-company demo and rebuild looks like for your project.
Done Safely. Done Right.
Demolition is not the kind of work you want a hobbyist doing. There are utilities to disconnect, hazardous materials to identify, neighboring structures to protect, and permits to pull. Done wrong, demolition damages property, hurts people, and creates legal problems that follow the homeowner for years.
Timber is a licensed general contractor in Washington State and fully insured for both tree service and construction work, including demolition. We carry liability coverage and our crews are trained on the equipment they run. We pull every permit. We notify the utilities. We protect the property next door. We can hand the homeowner, the insurance adjuster, or the HOA proof of insurance before we set foot on site.
For storm-damaged structures, we are available 24/7. If a tree just came through your roof and the building has to come down before anything else can happen, call (360) 441-5033.
What to Expect
Most homeowners have never watched a demolition happen on their property and are not sure what it is going to look like. Here is what to expect.
The day before, we will confirm the schedule and walk the site one more time. The day of, the crew shows up with the equipment, the dump trucks, and the safety gear. For a typical garage or shed, the structure is on the ground within a few hours. For a full house demolition, expect one to three days depending on the size and foundation.
The site stays controlled the entire time. Dust is suppressed with water as needed. Debris is loaded directly into trucks instead of piling on your lawn. The driveway and neighboring properties are protected.
By the time we leave, the structure is gone, the debris is hauled, and the lot is graded. You can walk the site, take photos, and start the next phase, whether that is rebuilding with us, selling, or just leaving it clean.
From a Skagit County Property Owner
"The old garage on our property was sagging and dangerous. We thought we would have to find a demo guy, then a clearing guy, then a builder. Timber did all three. They tore the garage down on a Tuesday, had the lot graded by Friday, and started the new shop foundation the following week. We never had to call anyone else."

Common Questions
Cost depends on the size of the structure, the type of foundation, whether utilities need disconnection, and how easy the site is to access. As of 2026, sheds and small outbuildings often run $1,500 to $5,000. Detached garages typically run $5,000 to $15,000. Full residential demolition of a single-family home generally runs $12,000 to $35,000 or more depending on size and complexity. Call (360) 441-5033 for a real estimate after a site walk.
Yes for almost any structure. Whatcom County, Skagit County, and the cities of Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Mount Vernon, and Anacortes all require demolition permits, and utility disconnects have to be confirmed before the permit is issued. Timber handles the entire permit process as part of the job.
A typical shed comes down in a few hours. A detached garage usually goes in one day. A full house demolition typically runs one to three days for the teardown itself, with another day or two for haul-off and site grading. The permit and utility disconnect process before the work usually adds one to three weeks depending on the jurisdiction.
Timber hauls all debris to the proper disposal site. Wood, metal, concrete, drywall, and roofing go where they are supposed to go. Recyclable materials are separated when practical. You do not have a debris pile sitting on your property for weeks.
For pre-1978 structures, lead and asbestos testing may be required before demolition. If hazardous materials are present, they must be abated by a licensed abatement contractor before the building can come down. We flag this during the initial walk so it is handled correctly and legally.
Yes. After demolition and proper site prep, the lot is ready for new construction. Because Timber is a licensed general contractor with our own construction crew, we can roll directly from the demo into the foundation and framing of the new build under one contract. No new contractor handoff.
The homeowner generally does not need to make any calls. Timber notifies the utilities, schedules the locates, files the permit, and coordinates with the local jurisdiction. If your property has an HOA or is in a historic overlay, we coordinate with them too. Call (360) 441-5033 and we take it from there.
