Get everyone out of the danger zone. If the tree is on the house, move family and pets to the side of the home farthest from the damage, or out of the house entirely if it is a major hit. Power lines that came down with the tree are live until the utility says otherwise; do not touch them and stay at least 30 feet away.
Take photos if it is safe to do so. Wide shots from the yard, close-ups of the damage, and shots of the tree itself. Your insurance company will want these. If it is not safe, skip this. We will take the photos when we arrive.
